Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara Review

I was sent a tube of Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara in Black from Influenster to try and review. My opinions are my own!

As a self-proclaimed mascara junkie, I am always excited when a new product comes out and this is no exception! Look for this new mascara in stores November 2013!

When I opened my box and saw this mascara, I was stoked and couldn't wait to try it! The tube is a nice shape and you can hold it easily when applying the mascara. The brush shape is nice as well, and it isn't goopy. When applying the mascara, I found it was easier to wiggle the brush side to side instead of up and down. There were no noticeable clumps and it didn't smudge, which was a definite plus! I didn't get the drama I was hoping for, though. My issue with some mascaras is that they are too difficult to remove but this mascara came off well and didn't leave smears behind.

This mascara was great for an every day mascara and I would definitely recommend it to friends!

Bone Marrow Donation Registry - Free & Easy to Register!

I know that this blog is about deals and coupons, but recently a very sad story caught my eye on the news. It was about an 11 month old boy who has cancer and needs a bone marrow transplant as well as platelet and blood donations. As a mother and a human being, this touched my heart to the core and made me question why this is happening to such an innocent, sweet boy. While I'm not personally eligible to donate bone marrow, I am going to try as hard as I can to get the word out to help save lives.

Joining the Be the Match registry is easy - just answer the questions and they will send you a kit in the mail. All you need to do is swab your cheek and send it back in a prepaid envelope. Goody Ouchless Ribbon Elastics Review

I've seen the Goody Ouchless Ribbon Elastics in the store but have never made the jump to purchase them. As luck would have it, I was sent a package to try through Influenster and I am so happy that I got this product! The colors are super cute and can go with any color outfit - it's hard to choose just one! I tried these first with a side braid and then with a pony tail.

My only complaint is that they aren't quite firm enough to hold my pony tail, but my easy solution is to use a plain pony tail holder to secure your style and then wrap the Goody Ribbon Elastic around for instant style! There are no ouchy metal pieces digging into your scalp which is a nice plus!

Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream Review

I have not had the best luck with BB/CC Creams. I'm pretty fair and sometimes even the lightest foundations that companies offer is too dark for me. This is why I have been wary of BB creams because they tend to generalize the shades, i.e. Light/Medium. However, I received Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream from Influester, complimentary to try and review. I must say that it does work pretty well. It is a tinted moisturizer, though, so if you are looking for heavier coverage you might want to use powder after or try another product. It hydrates for 24 hours and simplifies your every day routine!

When I received the product, I opened it to smell and test on my inner arm for shade match. It actually didn't smell too bad, though others have mentioned that it smells strongly of sunscreen. It is SPF 15 which is nice, especially in the summer sun! It blended well so I was ready to give it a shot with my daily routine.

Here is the before picture, with no makeup (be warned, it isn't pretty!)

After applying the BB cream, I noticed that it blended well but my skin was more shiny than expected. I prefer a more matte coverage but it wasn't horrible. Here is the picture of me with just the BB Cream:

As you can see, it lessened the redness under my eyes and covered up the scratch on my cheek (thanks a bunch, son!) Even with my normal foundation, I always apply a powder to have a more matte look. Here is my finished "face" for the day with the whole shebang:

I'm still working on it, so I'll post an update, but what is working now is tailoring it a bit to fit into my lifestyle. However, as a mom, I know that my healthy choices will influence and impact my children, so I'm definitely going to give it my best!

Ivory® 2-IN-1 Hair & Body Wash Review

I was recently selected by Influenster to try the new Ivory® 2-IN-1 Hair & Body Wash. I received one bottle complimentary for my review, but my opinions are my own!

My first impression of this product is that it smells nice and will be great for the whole family.

My husband currently uses a 2-in-1 product, so I know that he will enjoy using the Ivory® 2-IN-1 Hair & Body Wash. This will help speed up bath time for my kids because we don't have to use 2 separate products either! Ivory® 2-IN-1 Hair & Body Wash will cut down on the shower/bath clutter too - knocking out the other guys!

I was a bit hesitant to try this product because my hair gets snarly when I don't use both shampoo and conditioner. The bottle promised that it also included conditioner, so I gave it a shot. It lathered nicely with my hair, but it still felt a bit straw-like after I rinsed, so I did go ahead and use a separate conditioner. As a body wash, Ivory® 2-IN-1 did the trick! It smelled nice and fresh! This morning I noticed that I did have some tangles in my hair, even after the conditioner, and my scalp was a bit dry. For myself, especially with color-treated hair, I don't know if I will be using this product again as a shampoo but I will definitely use it as a body wash.

Overall, this is a great product for my kids & husband. I would use this in the future for them, but since I have color-treated hair, I'm not sure I would use this for my hair.

Moroccan Seasoning by McCormick - I have never used this seasoning before, but I will definitely do some research on how to incorporate it into a meal. It's always good to expose my kids to other tastes so this is great!

McCormick Perfect Pinch Southwest Sweet n' Smoky Salt Free Seasoning Blend - This is a nice product because not only can you make yummy chicken, but it is also salt-free, which is good for those watching their sodium intake. I have feeling this will be a winner in my family!

Vons Just 4 U Program

Have you signed up for the Vons Just 4 U program yet? If not, why? It's amazing!!

Each week, the coupons that you used to have to clip out of the circular can now be loaded directly to your card for a one-time use! You can also download the app, link it to your card, and voila! You can load coupons while you are shopping! You don't have to worry that you left them at home or lost one of the little papers because they are all electronic! Vons also adds manufacturer coupons to the site for even more savings!

The best part of the program is that you get about 2 pages of personalized deals! The past 2 weeks, I have received FOUR free item coupons, just for being a Vons shopper! I believe that once you sign up, you get a free carton of eggs, but they could have discontinued that so no guarantees. You'll still get great deals though!

There are only 2 downsides that I've noticed:

1) Vons coupons and Manufacturer coupons aren't readily distinguishable on their coupon site. If it says Marshmallows $0.99, then it is a Vons coupon. But those that just say $1 off? It's somewhat uncertain unless you have the ad open.

2) Sometimes the coupons don't come off automatically the way they should. However, I've e-mailed their customer service and more often than not they will give you a credit on your next trip.

Childhood Memories & Disney

If you have a princess-loving daughter like I do, you probably were excited to be able to take her to the movie theater this fall and watch The Little Mermaid just like when you were a kid. However, I just found out that this isn't happening because they are more concerned about the losses than the memories made. Here is a letter I wrote to Disney (if it even gets there) and I urge you to e-mail support@disneyonline.com too and get The Little Mermaid back in our theaters!!


When I was growing up in the 80's, I was in love with Beauty & The Beast and Little Mermaid and the joy of those movies has lived on. Now that I have a 4 year old daughter, I've passed down the love of imagination. When I found out that Disney was re-releasing the movies of my childhood in theaters, I was so excited because I could share these memories and wonderful movies with my daughter. We were first in line when Beauty & The Beast was re-released and she loved it. Ever since then, we've been talking about going to see The Little Mermaid together and we were so excited when we found out that it was going to be in theaters this fall. Imagine her disappointment that she doesn't get to share in this special mom-daughter time together at the movie theater because Disney is more concerned about cost due to 3-D. Here is my message: WE DON'T CARE ABOUT 3-D!! It's cool and everything, but I would take my daughter for the 2-d version, if only to spend quality time with my daughter and create new memories. While it's always been known that Disney can turn a profit, in this instance it shouldn't matter. Moms my age who grew up with these wonderful movies are now able to share them with their kids and watching it at home just isn't the same. Please reconsider and release The Little Mermaid as planned in September!

There are usually better coupons in the regional papers like the LA Times as opposed to the local papers, but I always get one of each just in case!

It also lists the inserts each Sunday and remember, there aren't usually inserts on Sundays that fall before a major holiday.
